Who is more important in Texas — Lt Governor or US Senator?

The Lt. Governor’s office carries more raw power over what happens to Texans than a Senate seat carries over anything Texas-specific, full stop, says Michelle H. Davis, of Lonestar Left

“A US Senate seat gets national coverage because it’s counted on a national scoreboard. Fifty-one seats, fifty-two seats, who’s got the gavel in DC. That scoreboard exists. It matters for judges and the farm bill and whether Texas gets steamrolled on federal funding fights, and I’m not telling you to stop caring about it. It’s still an important race.

But that national scoreboard has absolutely nothing to do with who decides whether Texas passes another abortion restriction, guts the grid again, or hands another billion dollars to voucher schools.” That decision happens in Austin by the Lt Governor.

Since the Lt. Gov. helps to create and then control passage of the state budget; and also sets the legislative agenda then controls the fate of all bills submitted - IMHO the Lt. Gov. of Texas is way more important to me then is our U.S. Senator. I suppose James could change that opinion in the future. Herb.
