This nonpartisan League of Women Voters Guide helps you choose one candidate in each race to vote for, based on their answers to the same LWV questions. Then you can print out a list to take with you to the polls. It’s legal. Lists on electronic devices are not. See tips below.

Tips for Using the

League of Women Voters Guide

Open a new browser window and paste the following link into the browser.

https://www.vote411.org/plan-your-vote

On the opening screen, enter your address and scroll down to select Your Party, then click Save & View Races.

A list of races comes up with U.S. President listed first. Click on View Race on the right to see the Democratic candidates.

I find it simplest to go through the list in order, starting with the Presidential race. Once you decide on a candidate to support, click on My Choice next the candidate’s name, then click Save & Next button. You can always come back later and change a choice if you want.

If I get to a race with only one Democratic candidate, I select that candidate as My Choice. I’m a Democrat and vote for Democrats up and down the ballot.

If I get to a race with two or more Democratic candidates, I check the View Answers box for each one. Then scroll down to see their answers to LWV questions. Once I’ve made a decision, I click My Choice next to the one I’ve picked, then click Save & Next.

Once you’re done (gone through all the races on the list), you can print your voting selections and take them with you to the polls.

Because so many Travis county-level offices have just one Democratic in the race, the research goes quickly. I finished my picks in about 1 1/2 hours.

The Travis Primary is really important, because Republicans have largely given up the fight for county-level offices. So the Democratic winners of the Travis Primary often run unopposed or weakly opposed in November’s General Election.

We owe a debt of gratitude to the League of Women Voters for giving us a tool that makes our “due diligence” so easy. Thank you LWV!
