We the people are stirring again.

At crucial points in our history, Americans have stood up en mass to defy anti-Democratic forces working to destroy the country.

Joe McCarthy and his witch hunt evaporated after being publicly called out in 1954 by chief counsel for the U.S. Army Joseph Welch. Civil rights were passed after millions o Americans saw the unconscionable brutality of the early 1960’s on TV. Richard Nixon was brought down after the Watergate tapes leaked.

Here are the signs that it’s happening again.

Seven million plus Americans showed up in peaceful protest on No Kings Day last Saturday. Every major media outlet refused the recent Defense Department’s censorship demand. Seven of nine universities refused to give up academic freedom in exchange for funding.

As Robert Reich writes, “The sleeping giant always remains asleep until some venality becomes so noxious, some action so disrespectful of the common good, some brutality so noisy, that he has no choice but to awaken.”
