Trump’s sneak attack on the country

We’re all aware of Trump’s more blatant attacks on the rule of law - the use of federal agencies to round up immigrants, the rigging of elections, the unlawful expansion of executive power into areas once governed by Congress.
In today’s piece, Robert Reich reveals a lesser-known strategy. He’s installing “ombudsmen” in major media companies and educational institutions as part of deals to continue their funding and operation. What do these ombudsmen do? According to Reich, they “receive and evaluate any complaints of bias or other concerns” and demand they be remedied by the entity.
It’s a huge cudgel to hold over giant organizations like CBS (now merged with Skydance Media) and educational institutions like Columbia University. It means that Trump could step in at any time, if he doesn’t like something that’s going on.
Trump has money and political power on his side. But we have the people who, despite it all, believe in the doctrine of fairness and the rule of law. So keep the faith. And continue to resist, resist, resist.

Regarding Trump’s ombudsmen, it resonates the Communist Party Members installed in similar organizations in Russia to keep an eye on adherence to the party line. Working in the shadows yet all powerful with a direct line to the Leader. I’m not going to ask the obvious rhetorical question “what are we becoming?” cause we already know the answer.
