Stop the current (most likely illegal) move to redistrict Texas!

I was sitting in the green room at yesterday’s Senate Redistricting Committee hearing, when I was stunned by the following development. At one hour in, Ellen Katz, noted legal scholar and law professor at the University of Michigan Law School, testified that the July 7 DOJ demand for Texas to redistrict is unconstitutional in her opinion. For the legislature to actually do it would be illegal!

How can either the House or the Senate move ahead without knowing whether what they are doing is legal?

That’s the question every one of us should be asking. Call or write members of both the House and Senate Redistricting Committees to demand an answer. If you have limited time, focus on the Republican committee members.
