Monday was a great night to be a Democrat: Enthusiastic crowd unified in support for Harris-Walz and in admiration for President Biden

By Mike Killalea, NSD president

Last night was a great time to be a Democrat in Chicago, or anywhere else for that matter. The jam-packed crowd at the Democratic National Convention was unified in its support for our exciting ticket of Harris Walz, and for its admiration and appreciation of President Biden.

“It has been the honor of a lifetime,” said President Biden. “I love my job, but I love my country more.”

This is a man who does the right thing — putting country above self. The other guys … not so much.

Speakers on night one included those who know President Biden best and some of his strongest allies who have been by his side in the fight for the soul of the nation.

Senators Raphael Warnock and Chris Coons highlighted the President’s leadership and shared stories of how in public and in private, President Biden never backed down from his vision for a brighter America where everyone has a fair shot.

Dr Jill Biden and Ashley Biden discussed how President Biden has spent every day of his career with an unwavering dedication to the American people and spoke to the most important job of his life, his commitment to his family.

“Selecting Kamala was the best decision I made in my career,” confirmed Biden. “She’s tough and has enormous integrity. She will be respected by world leaders because she already is. She will be a president who puts her stamp on America’s future.”

2024 national platform

The Dems also released its 90-page platform. It explains how and why the Biden-Harris administration has oriented the US government toward ordinary Americans.

Approved on July 16, five days before President Joe Biden announced he would not accept the nomination, it refers to Biden, and not to Vice President Kamala Harris, as the party’s nominee.

“Our nation is at an inflection point,” the platform’s preamble reads. “What kind of America will we be? A land of more freedom, or less freedom? More rights or fewer? An economy rigged for the rich and powerful, or where everyone has a fair shot at getting ahead?”

I think we can agree on the American that we want.
