Lots going on this month. On Saturday, March 8, Austinites get to choose between celebrating International Women’s Day at the Capitol, and a Tesla Takedown at the Tesla showroom in the Domain

 

We have lots of great advocacy opportunities all month. I’ve tried to list many of them, but please check the link from state Sen Sarah Eckhardt at the end for a proper calendar.

 

And this just in: The Texas Legislature is accepting comments electronically from Texas residents anywhere who cannot attend in person. So, please share with your friends around the state!  (Not the Senate, unfortunately)

 

Texas residents who wish to electronically submit comments related to agenda items on this notice without testifying in person can do so until the hearing is adjourned by visiting: https://comments.house.texas.gov/home?c=c400

 

One must submit comments on agenda items only until the hearing is adjourned.

 

March 6

March 11

 

7am - 3pm: Citizen Lobby Day with Texas Cannabis Collective

 

Bringing together advocates from the medical, hemp, and criminal justice and consumer spaces, lobby day is your chance to make your voice heard at the legislative session.

 

Registration will be from 7am-8:30am in the Legislative Conference Center (LCC). You will be given a packet of information & resources and be divided into groups based on your area.

 

8:30am-9:45am: Guest speakers, review packet info, and the day’s goals

 

9:45am: Attendee groups begin meeting with legislative offices (Please reach out to reps in advance schedule meetings)

 

(Note for late arrivals (after 10): registration available across the street from the Capitol at The Botanic Bliss Lounge 1701 Guadalupe St, Austin

8am: House Public Education Hearing on HB3 School Finance Bill, JHR 140 (this is in the Reagan Building adjacent to the Capitol)

10 AM - 4 PM: Texas AFT Educators’ Legislative Advocacy Day, Schmidt-Jones Family Life Center, 1300 Lavaca St. For public school educators, retirees, support professional, members of AFT or not

 

March 31

 

1:30-4:30pm: CCL Texas State Lobby Day (training): Lobby Training, St. David's Episcopal Church, 301 East 8th Street Austin

April 1

 

7am-6:30pm: CCL Texas State Lobby Day (advocacy)

·      7-8am: Breakfast -- Meet in Crail Hall at St. David's Episcopal Church for breakfast and final briefing

·      8-8:30 am: Group photo -- Walk to the Capitol and gather for a group photo

·      9am-5pm: Lobby meetings -- Meetings all day at the Capitol

·      5-6:30pm: Reception -- Reception in Sumners Hall at St. David’s. Socialize and reflect on our day while enjoying heavy hors d'oeuvres and beverages
