The Republican majority is trying to do as much damage as it can before the session ends on June 2. Come to the June 12 NSD Meet & Greet (northshoredemocrats.org) to find out which of these odious bills actually passed.

SB 10 -requires the Ten Commandments to be posted in every public school classroom in Texas

SB 261 - bans innovation in food production (specifically cell-cultured meat) to protect the meat industry, and hurt consumers

SB-12 - bans instruction in public schools on sexual orientation and gender identity, prohibits DEI policies, and imposes surveillance of anything resembling anti-racism or inclusion

SB 8 - drafts Texas sheriffs to enforce ICE rulings, turning county jails into federal immigration enforcement hubs

SB 37 - the university thought police bill that allows politically appointed regents to override curriculum and hiring decisions

SB-38 - streamlines eviction process in favor of landlords; renters in Texas are already vulnerable with no statewide tenant protection & no real enforcement of safe housing standards

As Michelle H. Davis of LoneStarLeft writes, what this all boils down to is  “Intentional cruelty, wrapped in God talk and cowboy cosplay.”
