It had to get worse, before it gets better

For the last 40 years, America has been on a downward spiral which has undermined its very foundations.

Under cover of the myth propagated by Ronald Reagan, who blamed ‘Welfare Queens” for the country’s economic woes, America’s wealthiest began to quietly strip away rights of ordinary citizens to fair treatment.

In his piece on Sunday, Robert Reich spells out what’s happened: “Deregulation, privatization, free trade, wild gambling by Wall Street, union-busting, monopolization, record levels of inequality, stagnant wages for most, staggering wealth for a few, big money taking over our politics.”

Reich points out that the excesses of the Trump regime have “…precipitated a long-overdue reckoning, “ and then goes on to say, “…the nightmare has awakened much of America to the truth about what has happened to this country — and what we must do to get it back on the track toward social justice, democracy, and widespread prosperity.”
