Celebrate MLK weekend with friends from the North Shore

MLK Community March & Festival on Jan 20, sponsored by the Heritage Council, starts at 9:30 am with a 1.4-mile march from the South Steps of the Texas Capitol to Huston-Tillotson University for a festival honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.  It will celebrate Dr. King’s vision and call for continued action in our communities, Arrive early if you want to catch the TCDP press conference at 8:30 am on the North Steps of the Texas Capitol. Honor MLK by your participation, and/or volunteer/donate to support community service projects. For more information and free parking locations https://mlkcelebration.com/celebration-events/march-and-festival/

If you’re interested in carpooling on Jan 20, just show up at the Lago Vista Lowe’s parking lot (end near the CVS) in time for an 8:30 departure. If nobody is there, you’ll be on your own.

Make your own sign on the issue you care most about, whether for MLK Day or the Women’s March on January 18! On Thursday, January 16 from 4 to 6 PM, you’re invited to come to a private Lago Vista home to create a sign. We’ll provide the blank signs and art materials. Supplies are limited, so first come, first served. RSVP by text (512) 535-8006.
