Celebrate a win of law over thuggery

On December 23, the Supremes finally stepped up. The Court issued a preliminary rejection of Trump’s justification for deploying National Guard troops to Chicago.

In a post yesterday on Truth Social, Trump announced that he is withdrawing the troops from Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland. No mention of the Supreme Court decision. He claimed that crime had been “greatly reduced” by the National Guard’s presence and left the door open to future deployments.

On December 28, the Chicago Tribune reported, “only about 1.5% of those detained …had been convicted of a violent felony or sex crime,” thus exposing Trump’s post as just one more example of his gaslighting the American public.

In his substack yesterday, Paul Krugman recounts the horrors of the two-month siege of America’s third-largest city by a gang of violent sadistic thugs sent by Trump.

The current battle may be won, but the war is far from over.

Yesterday The Washington Post reported on a strategy document they found making the rounds of immigration officials. It details ICE plans for a $100 million year-long “wartime recruitment” campaign targeting gun show, NASCAR, and military enthusiasts through online influencers and geo-targeting. Just what we need! Thousands more gun nuts, brainwashed by right-wing social media, recruited as new deportation officers nationwide.
