Why did nine million voters sit out the election?

Voter turnout for the 2024 election was down nine million from the 2020 election that gave Biden the White House. Why?

Democratic voters were deluged with myths about why their lives weren't getting easier …undocumented immigrants? …”Deep state"? …Transgender kids? Many in this normally reliable group just gave up and stayed home.
