Wear orange June 2-4 for Gun Violence Awareness Day

Mike Killalea, NSD president

Texas shootings are soaring this year, with more than 100 gun deaths, and 17 dead in actual mass shootings, second only to California. You can make your voice heard by wearing orange on June 2-4 for Gun Violence Awareness Day and Wear Orange Weekend.

Forbe’s reports that 202 mass shootings have occurred in the US as of early May. “This is the fastest the country has reached over 200 shootings in a year,” according to data posted on the Twitter page of the Gun Violence Archive, as reported by Forbes.

Personally, orange is not my color. (Sorry, Longhorns.) Clashes with my eyes. LOL.

But I will be proudly wearing orange all weekend.

And you can wear the orange in Austin on 3 June at the Austin Moms Demand Action gathering. The event begins at 11 am at Austin Beerworks (3001 Industrial Terrace). There will be other events around the state.

Enough is enough! Let’s tame gun violence in America.
