“I’m president, I’ll just take ‘em.”

This is the classic attitude of the bully on the playground. Yet unbelievably, Trump said these very words Thursday when he saw two rings and a golden hockey stick he coveted during a Florida Panthers hockey team ceremony.
Unfortunately his take-what-you-want attitude extends to more than just baubles. He has had his jealous eye on Greenland for years. In yesterday’s letter, Heather Cox Richardson explains the disastrous consequences of such a grab.
A radical weakening of the NATO alliance would give free rein to Putin, who “…might well begin attacking other NATO members, particularly Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania,” reports Richardson. “If other NATO allies come to their aid, Europe would be at war” and, like it or not, U.S. forces would be in the middle of that.
“Meanwhile, China might reach for Taiwan, and South Korea and Japan would need to plan for the end of U.S. strategic power, likely with nuclear arms.”
In addition, there’s the potential threat of war with our NATO allies as evidenced by the latest development:
“… on Wednesday, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Germany, and Sweden launched ‘Operation Arctic Endurance,’ increasing their military presence in Greenland in order, as Germany’s defense ministry said, “to support Denmark in ensuring security in the region.”
What’s really tragic about all this, is the suspected reason behind its happening. In the fall of 2021, Trump told The New Yorker columnist Susan Glasser and her husband , journalist Peter Baker, that he wanted Greenland as “a piece of real estate.” This is The Art of the Deal on a scale never seen before.
What’s encouraging is the growing opposition to Trump’s objective. Only 17% of Americans approve of U.S. efforts to acquire Greenland and only 4% think it’s a good idea to use military force to do it.
Congressional Republicans are speaking out against it. From Rep Don Bacon (R-NE), “Most Republicans know this is immoral and wrong, and we’re going to stand up against it…. I think it would lead to impeachment. Invading an ally…is a high crime and a misdemeanor.”

I'm giving the article 5 stars, not the content. The content is horrific. At home and abroad Trump does nothing but threaten and agitate. And all to put $$$ in his own pocket. Tell him NO!
