Dem hero Wendy Davis to speak on 3/19, and we’re invited!

Texas Dem hero Wendy Davis will speak at the Tuesday, March 19, meeting of the Lake Travis Democrats, and all North Shore Dems are invited!

“Wendy Davis defined courage to a new generation of Texas Democrats, and set an outstanding example of leadership, particularly for young women,” noted NSD President Mike Killalea.

As Democratic state senator for Fort Worth, SD-10, Davis filibustered Senate Bill 5 on June 25, 2013, for 13 straight hours to fight more restrictive abortion regulations for Texas. It delayed the bill, and received national attention. Ultimately the bill passed in a second session.

Davis is now senior advisor to Planned Parenthood Texas Votes and focused on raising awareness of bills that are targeting access to contraception, as well as bills that would repeal abortion bans in Texas and restore access to state funding for Planned Parenthood.

The meeting will be held at the La Quinta Inn and Suites by Wyndham, 1943 Medical Drive in Lakeway at 6:30 pm.
